Rancho Bernardo is a planned community of the city of San Diego, California, located in San Diego County. It is geographically located about 20 miles north-north-east of downtown San Diego, immediately north of Carmel Mountain Ranch, northwest of the city of Poway and south of Escondido.

Often referred to as “RB” this community is nestled within a lovely San Pasqual Valley of about 7,000 acres surrounded by beautiful mountain views its home to more than 17,000 homes and 45,000 residents of North County San Diego. Built around Lake Hodges and several area golf courses the clean air and warm sunny climate of Rancho Bernardo initially attracted a retirement village but today RB and its sister communities of Carmel Mountain Ranch* and Sabre Springs** bustle with activity for all ages.

Rancho Bernardo Schools are part of the Poway Unified School District. The schools for RB are: Westwood and Turtleback are the elementary schools; Rancho Bernardo Middle school and Rancho Bernardo High School.

Rancho Bernardo offers many recreational facilities some of which are part of the homeowner’s associations and some are private clubs: Bernardo Heights County Club; Rancho Bernardo County Club; and the RB Swim and Tennis Club.
